Writer/director/lead actor Jim Cummings' debut feature is a clever tragicomedy about a police officer whose life unravels after his mother's passing, as he comes to terms with the reality of raising his daughter alone. Na het succes van zijn tragikomische korte film Thunder Road (2016), over een politieagent die zichzelf belachelijk maakt terwijl hij een grafrede houdt voor zijn overleden moeder, besloot regisseur, scenarist en hoofdrolspeler Jim Cummings het gegeven uit te werken tot een speelfilm. Het resultaat is nogal episodisch: meer een reeks sketches dan een echt verhaal. De rode draad – labiele agent Jim Arnaud – is echter een ijzersterke creatie; geestig, aandoenlijk en irritant tegelijk. Een veelbelovend debuut, trefzeker gefilmd ook, en gemaakt voor een schamele 200 duizend dollar.
